One more plug for Olympia reading
22 October 2009 | Comments Off
We very rarely get to Olympia (Washington State), so I hope those of you elsewhere won’t mind one more reminder of the event: October 24 at the Olympia Timberland Library.
Nicola and I will read (dramatically and with flair!) at 5:30, followed by Q&A. Science Fiction Museum curator Jacob McMurray (who designed Nicola’s beautiful memoir) hosts a showing of video interviews with SF authors. Blöödhag plays literary heavy-metal music and then MCs a fashion show. It’s all about story, music and fashion! Honestly, it’s practically perfect.
Back with (wait for it) new content (!) tomorrow or Saturday.
Taking our act to Olympia SciFiFest

Nicola and I will be in Olympia (WA) on October 24 for SciFiFest at the Olympia Timberland Library. It sounds like a great deal of fun and we’re delighted to be part of it.
Check it out:
October 24, 5:30-9:00 PM
5:30 — Readings by Nicola and Kelley
6:30 — Seattle SciFi Museum curator Jacob MacMurray (who also designed Nicola’s utterly gorgeous memoir) will present a video of interview clips from famous SF authors.
7:30 — BlöödHag takes the stage and plays our ears off. And then they emcee an SF fashion show! Prizes will include Most Steampunk, Best Star Trek impersonator, Most Robotic, and more. Come dressed to win, kids. How often in your life can you get both a concert and a fashion prize from the world’s most science-fictionally literate heavy-metal rock band?
Please mark your calendars and join us!
Hollywood, here we come!

Nicola and I will read for the first time in Los Angeles at A Different Light bookstore (West Hollywood) on May 30 at 7:30 pm. I’ll be reading from Dangerous Space, and Nicola will be reading from something amazing she’s written (grin, meaning I have no idea what she’s decided).
We both love to read, and we’re good at it — so please come and hear our stories, talk to us about writing and life, and help us get a glimpse into the reality of the City of Angels. LA is one of the iconic American cities, like New York and Chicago, a city that everyone “knows” even if they’ve never been there. I’m no different — I haven’t been to LA in, I don’t know, more than 30 years, and yet I have all kinds of opinions and ideas about it (shakes head at the wackiness of being an American). I’m looking forward to it.
We’re also attending the Lambda Literary Awards ceremony on May 29 (also in West Hollywood, in an unusual instance of life being convenient…). We’ll be gussied up in our party best (it’s a big deal when they let the writers come out and play, you know? So we take it very seriously!) If you’re there, please say hello and help us enjoy the evening.
