Those crazy kids got married

…16 years ago today.

Love is a four-letter word spelled T-I-M-E. — Unknown

Today I don’t give a damn about other people who want so badly to see us not married; I’m sad for them that they aren’t us, and I hope that they have even one percent of the love in their lives that I have in mine. Today is not about rights or legality or the politics of fear: I didn’t need any government’s permission to marry 16 years ago, and I still don’t.

Marriage is about making each other better. And today is about how much better I am in every way because of Nicola.

  1. Happy Anniversary to you both (great photo – that must bring back some memories ! ).

And as for our respective Legislators and their persistent 1950’s No Marriage For Gays views ? Lets bring them up to date – how about a little Lennon – Power to the People (RIGHT ON !). That’ll get them to the 60’s and lets hope they can just keep going.

The govt here in Australia has only recently (a few months ago) amended various peices of Law and now (hooray) we have equal rights federally. Alas, we still have the State based stuff to get through – as a result I am helping out my dearest friend Grant plan his “commitment ceremony” to Luke… but as they say, all good things eh ?

And you two look like you have a good thing going. Many thanks for both your sites and works.

    Helen

  2. Happy Anniversary! I think it is beautiful to have found someone wonderful and still be immersed in each other’s love years later. I can feel the love. *does a stadium wave* Congratulations on living something beautiful.
