  1. Thanks for the picture. Here, it’s 5 degrees with hazy sunshine on eight inches of snow. It is absolutely lovely, but we don’t go out without our long johns. Without gloves on, you can get mild frostbite just from holding on to the steering wheel of your car. I am not whining. I love it, and it just reminds me that beauty can be dangerous.

  2. Wow, that is beautiful.

I think there must always be something beautiful in our world if we can just manage to notice it, don’t you?

    Barbara, you’re in WI?

  3. Jennifer, yeah, I’m in the cold but loving arms of WI. How I got here is a long story, too long for today. I come from the high desert of New Mexico, and I miss it fiercely. However, one has to eat.

  4. This is a wonderful image. I love the otherworldly light of the moments around dawn and dusk. I’ll try to wake up early tomorrow and go on the roof to take some pictures of the sky in Guadalajara after sunrise. I hope your weekend has continued to give you truckloads of beauty.

  5. Jennifer, my twin sister teaches at university in WI, and when I was going through a very rough patch, she gave me sanctuary. I would eventually like to go back to the dessicated landscape and the rocky shield of the Sandia mountains east of Albuquerque. The light is almost unearthly(eg. paintings by Georgia O’Keefe) and the sky is so densely blue that it almost draws you up into it. My attempts at photographs have never succeeded in capturing it to my satisfaction. I envy you your talent.

  6. Thank you, Barbara. I’ve seen that sky and that light. It is amazing. For some reason I wasn’t really making any photos when I went there though. I hope to to go back sometime in the not-too-distant future. I did buy a very small print by AnaMaría Samaniego when I was there which I see every day on a wall in my house. Her monoprint captured that sky perfectly. It’s titled simply and appropriately, Luz.

    I understand the eating part.
