Deadlines? A thing of the past. Unless you are packing for the Rapture, in which case you had best get your skates on. Because apparently the Rapture is coming this Saturday!
Potential offense warning to readers: I support your right to worship any way you choose, but this is my little corner of the internet and I think the Rapture is a deeply silly concept.
For those of you who are still here: do go read the article and give a psychic hug through the ether to the Seattle Atheists who are collecting Rapture Relief Funds for those of us who will be left behind in the “horror and chaos” that will precede the official End of the World (on October 21). And look what they are going to do with the funds if the Rapture doesn’t happen…. is that the Best Idea Evah or what?
Sometimes I just love people.
Enjoy your day.
I believe in a higher power, but I don’t believe that power is mercurial and abusive, as some groups do. I find the notion of the Rapture to be very self-serving. No offense meant, but most of what I hear about it is people claiming they are more Godly than others, which in itself totally goes against Christian doctrine..
And yes, that is the best idea evah.
Yay! No more deadlines, no more work! I think we should start the party now since we don’t have much time left! And yes — that is a great idea for the Rapture Relief Fund. Maybe after this, they can start a Fanatics Relief Fund.
I saw this in the comments, and thought it was fun:
“Atheists don’t get many holidays of their own, so they have to seize any good opportunity for a party. ; ) ”
So true.
Unfortunately, the Rapture Relief Fund won’t teach critical thinking to those who need it most … they’ll be in heaven!
Ture, bluenote. I think the real heaven will be being down here w/o having to deal with the self-righteous.
I have high respect for Christianity, but little respect for some of the ways it is currently being practiced.
Jo, jazzman says “when the rapture comes so much money will be freed up for those who can actually benefit from education in critical thinking. The rest will have no need (obviously they don’t now) because they will be rapturing with “you know who” in “you know where.”
Nice point, jazzman!

“The end is Nah” sez it all. Where is the t shirt? Meanwhile, this explains the last week or so of Doonesbury. Sometimes, I really wish I could live in Seattle a place with a great sense of the humorous
There’s still time for all of us heathens to save ourselves. You may want to read this letter. Those who are going up in the rapture send your own letter here.
Re: Rapture Letter — “Dear folks, just a note to say I think I’m better than you.” How is anyone going to live that letter down on the 22nd and beyond?
Um, humbleness & humility . . . I thought those were mentioned in the New Testament somewhere? Maybe it’s just something I read in The Spiral Dance & I got it mixed up . . .
My Catholic neighbor to his Athiest wife: “If you see a pile of clothes on the floor, check the hot tub first.”
Jo, you/they might appreciate this rapture gag then. : )
